...dude, that SUCKED.

Nothing like a rapid-fire sequence of email and phone calls from a single customer to get one's heart rate elevated. And it could have all been avoided had I not received bad information from someone else in the building. (Said coworker has apologized for dropping me in a hornet's nest, and is someone who saves my ass on a regular basis, so I'm not going to hold it against them at all, but.)

And people wonder why I eat my feelings.

Ouch. Um. Have you ever talked to your boss and gotten reassurance that if a customer did go medieval on you, you'd be okay? You could hang up on the abusive phone call, you could do your job and just your job, and even if you *did* flub it somehow, you'd learn from it and move on, and your boss would consider the matter closed?

I know sometimes talking that out helps with panic of that nature, for some people.

Hugs and comfort offered.

The customer never actually crossed the line into abusive, and may well have felt they were being perfectly reasonable in providing all of this information to back up their position in the manner they did. (There was a cultural divide in play, as well.)

And the big reason I got as worked up as I did was because the bosses weren't in the building, so I didn't have anyone to kick the call upstairs to if I thought I was in over my head. I fortunately have zero reason to doubt that they've got my back.

Thanks.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't that bad - I just have had the same experience, and I never thought to verify that my bosses had my back, which made it much worse. Well, I figure there's no point in suffering though a scary experience if you don't try to help someone else avoid part of it!
